Holcomb Grain Facility

The Holcomb grain facility is a new shuttle train unloading and loading operation located in Holcomb, KS, developed for Garden City Co-op. The facility features over 1 million bushels of storage capacity with high-speed rail logistics infrastructure designed to maximize efficiency for farmer-members.
KC Engineering provided structural engineering services and life-safety code review for this project, delivered through a joint venture between Empire Ag and Buresh Building Systems.
Scope of Services
- Structural engineering design for a 150-foot-tall slipform concrete structure with over 1 million
bushels of storage capacity - Design of 92-foot-tall concrete slip-formed structure housing 80,000 BPH bulk weigher and
screenings bin over rail loadout tunnel - Deep foundation design for concrete structures
- Foundation systems for pre-engineered metal buildings
- Railroad coordination for a loop track system, enabling efficient railcar loading and unloading
